Iran, Isfahan

A two-story private vernacular house is designed applying sustainable design principles such as utilizing local materials, reducing energy consumption, and following the principles of indigenous architecture of the region. This project is located in the suburb of Isfahan city (Iran) with a hot and arid climate. The ultimate objective of the project was to design a house for the local farmers, who were living next to their farms. The design concept was to create a house and workplace integrated with the surrounding farm, ensuring minimal ecological impact. Sustainable design principles were carefully applied throughout the project.Implementing architectural elements of the region, such as the sunken courtyard, Panjdari (a room with five doors), and terrace, in an innovative way was one of the fundamental concepts of the design.
